As you will discover, this former 17th-century coaching inn has been lovingly and sympathetically restored. A great deal of care and attention has gone into creating unique and distinctive spaces at the Black Bull, Sedbergh… Our bar, with its distinctive copper detailing, luxurious red leather seating and multitude of cosy corners and two imposing wood-burning stoves, provides the perfect spot to sit, enjoy a drink and watch the world go by. The restaurant melds two distinctive cultures: owner James Ratcliffe’s Dales upbringing and chef-owner Nina Matsunaga’s Japanese heritage. By taking elements and influences from both cultures, we have successfully crafted a space that provides our guests with an opportunity to savour delicious food in unstuffy surroundings. Each of our guest rooms is named after a local fell, firmly referencing our deep-seated connection with our surroundings in this corner of the Dales
